Feb. 4, 2018: Learn to Ski Day
Learn to Ski Day starts at 12:30 pm at the After Hours Ski Trail Trailhead. Free cross country ski lessons for both children and adults in both the classic and skate styles will be offered.
Ski rental equipment will be available until 3 p.m., but only for those who pre-register and are present to checkout equipment at noon. The cost for rental skis, boots, and poles is $5 for youths 12 and younger and $15 for others. Pre-register by 7 PM February 1st, 2018 for February 4, 2018. Call Bob Cragin, 218-348,-5200 or Greg at 218-590-3051 to register. For each person renting ski equipment, provide name, whether classic or skate-style equipment is desired, shoe size, whether the shoe size is a child or adult size, and sex, age, and approximate weight and height. Please also leave your name and telephone number.
The afternoon of family fun is sponsored by the Brule Valley Ski Club, the Brule River State Forest, and the Brule Lions Club. The After Hours trailhead and parking lot are just south of Hwy. 2 on After Hours Rd., which is the first road west of the Brule River.
February 10, 2018: Candlelight Ski and Snowshoe
Candlelight Ski and snow shoe is from 5-9:00 pm. Candles will light two miles of trails including a part of the snow shoe trail. Grills, picnic tables, and a bonfire will be provided. Trail passes not required for this event, which is sponsored by the Brule River State Forest with volunteer assistance from the Brule Valley Ski Club.
March 3, 2018: River View Loppet ski races
Cross -Country Ski Races for youths and adults in the skate and classic styles. Register 7:30-9 am Brule Town Hall, race starts at 10:00 am. This race is sponsored jointly by the Brule Valley Ski Club, the Brule River State Forest, and the Brule Lions Club.
